Your First Period Story

“It shouldn’t have to be a secret.”

Do you remember the first time you got your period? What was that experience like for you? Did you feel alone, or did you feel celebrated? Do you wish you would have known something different . . . perhaps something more?

My Activism Project, one of my graduation requirements, from my Fertility Awareness Educator program – aka Period School or Vulva College is to collect First Period Stories.

I’m collecting stories of Menarche, the first bleed, from anyone wanting and willing to share. I’ll be gathering these stories and creating a FREE downloadable PDF for people to hear other people’s stories.

Talking about periods is still taboo. With half of our population being born biologically female, that’s a lot of people who bleed, will bleed, or has bled. And I can’t believe we’re still not talking about it.

I want to change that!

I want menstruators to feel heard in their story. Some people have never even shared their experience with anyone. I want to provide a space for that to happen. I also want younger people to realize that they’re not alone when they bleed and as they learn about their bodies.

If you feel ready to share your story, I would be honored if you took a moment to contribute to my project.

1 – Write freely about your first period story.

2 – Let me know how you want the story assigned: your first name, your initials, or anonymous.

3 – The age you began menstruating

4 – Your current age

Thank you for your contribution and vulnerability!

I love being part of the heroic journey of womanhood. Through more than 20 years of serving women, I have seen the life experience of motherhood as often the first time a woman must deeply trust her body and herself.
