These are just a few of my favorite things!
I’m not sure exactly why I haven’t shared this news with many people yet. I don’t know if it is the respect of the program and learning environment or being so blown away week by week that it’s hard to even put into words what is happening in my world, but for whatever reason – here is a glimpse.
I was accepted into a 2 year program about Body Literacy and Cycle Awareness. When I’m finished, I’ll be able to provide private instruction or group classes to different age groups on the menstrual cycle and charting.
Personally, I’ve charted my menstrual cycles for over 16 years. It’s what I used for contraception, then conception, and now as a guide on my overall health. It is a life changing practice I learned, and I have shared with people over the years. But now, I’m learning more than from my own experience and from a book or two. It’s full on! I can’t even begin to describe all the physiology and cultural things I’m learning in regards to our bodies. I thought I knew a thing or two before now. Haha!!
Currently, there are 3 teacher training programs in the world recognized by the Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals, and I chose Grace of the Moon. It’s online classes every week, modules, reading, questions, accountability, personal presentations, and an intensive in Oregon next year. I’ve been in an online space with 14 other people from across the globe each week. We’ve built life long friendships with the foundation of educating and empowering people around their bodies and menstrual cycles. It is really an indescribable experience on so many levels.
I look forward to offering classes to young girls starting to menstruate so they can understand and honor their bodies and not spend decades hating this monthly time. I’m excited to continue working with people trying to conceive by teaching them to chart and interpreting them together. It’s also a powerful and effective method for preventing pregnancies. It’s not the Rhythm method. It’s Sympto-Thermal. It’s based on science and daily observations in your body. And I can’t wait to work with people venturing into perimenopause and menopause and using these observations as a guide for their hormonal health. It’s how I found a thyroid issue needing some attention before my doctor could, and how I’m watching my own hormones.
Stay tuned for more information on all things we want to talk about but don’t. Over 50% of our population bleeds or have bled at some point. We need to talk about these things more!
